Asking why you need a dog from a responsible breeder is like asking why you need a house built to code. Sure, you can build a house, but you are going to end up with lots of expensive issues down the line and it could end up with a catastrophic collapse of the whole structure. Our puppies come from dogs with proven health results and solid temperaments. We put hundreds of hours into our puppies from the day they are born until the day they leave our house. With us, you get lifelong support for all of your questions and concerns as they occur. That can be training, grooming, health, etc. We stay in contact with the whole litter and often personally know multiple generations in the pedigree. If we find out there’s something to be concerned about, we inform everyone that might need to know. We have an extremely generous health guarantee and require that all puppies be returned to us if their new families are unable to keep them FOR ANY REASON.

Our puppies cost between $2,500 and $3,500 depending on the litter. This varies based on our cost for breeding, c-sections, travel, etc. All of our puppies are priced the same in a specific litter because they all receive the same exceptional care. No color, gender, or show/pet price differences here!

The color of puppies we have depends on the parents in each litter. We will have the expected colors listed when we have a litter announcement. Our dogs carry all possible Pumi colors—white, black, grey, fawn, and black and tan. We do not make breeding decisions based on color, our decisions are made on which two dogs and pedigrees are the best match.

The waitlist we have can vary in length. We do not breed unless we plan on keeping something ourselves, so we do not have tons of litters every year. This means that when we breed, we pick exceptional dogs and put in extraordinary effort to produce the best possible puppies. We work with multiple breeders across the United States and in Europe. We also have co-owned dogs across the US that we are involved in breeding. If we are not planning anything in your timeline, we are happy to make a recommendation to a quality Pumi breeder for you. The less specific requirements that you have for a puppy, the sooner we will be able to match you with one. Please expect to wait longer if you are looking for a specific color and gender. If you are looking for a white male show dog, you will have a longer wait than someone whose only requirement is a good temperament (a given in all our puppies).

We do not allow our prospective puppy owners to pick their own puppies. We spend 8 weeks getting to know the litter and even longer getting to know you and your family. We know our puppies better than anyone and are certain we will be able to match you with your dream puppy. We take all your requests into consideration when evaluating and if you decide that the puppy is not the right fit, we return your deposit. I have been personally grateful to the breeders we have received our own dogs from and all have been picked for us on our behalf.

Absolutely! We always offer the opportunity for families to meet the mother of our litters. Unfortunately we cannot always guarantee that you can meet the father. Most often the males that we breed to are owned and live with other people and in this rare breed they may even live in Europe! You will always be able to meet the mother when you pick up your puppy. We do not allow owners to visit when puppies are very young as we have strict bio-security concerns for our whelping mothers and their newborn puppies. If you are local to us, we often have a “puppy socialization party” around the 6-8 weeks of age mark that you may be able to attend.

We often require our prospective puppy owners to meet a Pumi in person before accepting a Deposit from them. It is very important to us that our families understand what this breed is like “in real life”. If you are not local to us in Michigan, we are happy to arrange a meeting with a Pumi in your area. We know owners across the country and in Canada, Mexico, and throughout Europe.

While no breed is 100% hypoallergenic, Pumi have the kind of coat that allergy sufferers are often capable of living with! Dog allergies are complex and we recommend your family meet a Pumi in person to see if you have any reactions to them.

Your Pumi puppy comes with a TON of great things! All our puppies will be up-to-date on their most recent vaccinations as well as any recommended de-worming treatments. All puppies will leave us with a veterinarian health clearance certificate testifying to any treatments and good health. All our puppies receive an ISO-compliant AKC reunite microchip with lifetime enrollment. They will receive a free 30-day trial of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage that you must activate before you leave our house (all states except NY). We do complete genetic testing via Optimal Selection on our puppies for over 120+ genetic diseases and send these results home with you. All puppies will have their AKC registration completed with you on the pick-up day, with no extra cost to transfer ownership! We also provide a small bag of their current puppy food so if you choose to change their food you will have an easier transition and are less likely to have a puppy with an upset stomach. They will have a harness, collar, and leash provided as well. We included a blanket covered with mother and their siblings scents to help decrease any puppy anxiety. All our puppies come with a comprehensive health guarantee that covers specific genetic diseases, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and patellar luxation. Our puppies are all raised via the Puppy Culture Program and will be Volhard temperament tested. Our puppies will have a head start for lots of training topics, including crate training, loose-leash walking, potty training, socialization, and more!

No, we never sell littermates to the same household. Pumi puppies are a lot of work and need to bond with their new families. If you have two puppies, they can bond more closely with one another than with their new people and have the chance of developing littermate syndrome. We recommend a minimum of a one year age difference between dogs.

Yes! All our breeding dogs are tested for hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, luxating patellas, CAER eye testing, and Optimal Selection genetic panel (specifically for DM an PLL, but we have results for more). We are happy to provide copies of these certificates upon request and most of these results are public on the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals database. If any testing was not completed or there are any concerns on the parent dogs, all owners are informed prior to placing a deposit.

Yes, we offer a comprehensive health guarantee on all of our puppies. This covers testable genetic conditions (DM and PLL), hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and patellar luxation. You will be provided with a copy of the most recent health guarantee prior to placing a deposit.
