Our Presentation

I have been very lucky and honored to be able to present and care for many different high quality Pumi in my time in the breed. We believe in presenting Pumi that are capable of being successful in the show ring, the performance ring, and as beautiful pets. For us, breed type, temperament, and balanced movement reign supreme—and is something that we believe to be lacking in some of the dogs currently in the United States. This has become the focus of our breeding program and we strive to offer dogs to the fancy that exhibit these excellent qualities. We produce more beautiful Pumi than we would ever be capable of keeping in our own house while still being able to provide the high level of care, appropriate mental stimulation, and the one-on-one family time this breed needs to be happy.

We are committed to presenting Pumi correctly as defined by the written standard. Our dogs are never “fluffed out and blown dry” as we believe the proper care and presentation of the coat is one of the most integral parts of the breed. Our dogs are groomed to perfection—they are a rustic coated breed and we make sure to emphasize the high-quality coats that we produce. Our dogs are fed high quality food and are kept on a regular muscle conditioning schedule. The Pumi should be a strong and athletic breed and we believe only those dogs that are in the best possible condition should be presented to other Pumi owners, breeders, and judges. We take great pride in our ability to be successful with every dog we take on, with our non-champion dogs often winning best of breeds and group placements from the classes. We recognize that not everyone wants to have a show dog. We do believe that with our limited gene-pool across the world, the more dogs we are able to help contribute to the breed, the better it is for the breed in the long run. We highly recommend all our owners keep their male and female dogs intact until two years of age (when growth plates close), for health related reasons. If you have a male dog, we kindly request that they remain intact throughout their lifetime, unless they have an urgent medical reason to be altered. If you are willing to allow your dog to contribute to the gene pool, we are happy to work out an arrangement of no-cost to you, that would allow your male dog to be involved in our breeding program. You would be compensated on a case-by-case basis to be discussed prior to any breeding taking place.

If you are interested in having your dog shown, either by yourself or by another person, we are happy to assist. We will tell you at the time of pick-up if we believe that your puppy may have the potential to be a successful show dog. If you wish to try, or your children/niece/nephew/brother/sister want to learn, we will teach you everything you need to know! Sometimes we are also surprised by puppies that develop into an even greater dog than we originally anticipated. We offer handling services either through us or via another trusted professional handler. We often do not charge any handling fees for Pumi owners that want to have their dogs complete their championships. We ask only that the new owners pay for entries and help pay for a share of the travel cost. If your Pumi is special enough to have a highly competitive show career, we are happy to discuss the best way to accomplish your goals.
